Excursion to the Recycling Center Ahrental

As part of her Fellowship at Büchsenhausen, Bettina Knaup is working on a long-term project that investigates excessive Western waste production as well as disposal sites and practices from an artistic perspective. In doing so, she focuses primarily on permanent waste landscapes, such as landfills, and interrogates the fiction of Ent-Sorgung [discarding, literal: disengagement from care].

Taking place in the context of the exhibition FAULTS AND BRIDGES on 20 June 2023, the excursion to the landfill of the Ahrental Recycling Center, whose contours have been captured for the exhibition by artist Benjamin Zanon, will provide further insights into and for Bettina Knaup’s ongoing project common wastes.

The excursion to the place where Innsbruck’s residual waste is processed and its remains are deposited after incineration will be accompanied by Anke Bockreis (research group Waste and Resource Management, University of Innsbruck) and Alexander Gogl (Curator and Research Associate at the Institute for Gestaltung, University of Innsbruck).

Starting point (bus transfer): “Ohrwaschl” opposite Marktplatz, at the corner of Marktgraben/Innrain (Innsbruck)
Time: 1 pm

Registration is required by June 14 via office@buchsenhausen.at!
