In the exhibition of the same name, the Oval Office in Washington D.C. stands for those places where the dynamics and patterns of political representation become manifest. Alongside works by Heba Y. Amin, Tony Cokes, Diane Esnault & Raul Walch, Suzanne Lacy and Howardena Pindell. Wolfgang Wirth‘s large-format paintings create a permeable space that questions and challenges seemingly generally valid mechanisms of power.
WOLFGANG WIRTH has been a member of the Tyrolean Artists´Association since 2004. He lives and works in Vienna. In his artistic practice, he explores the boundaries of contemporary painting, negotiating sociopolitical issues in the medium of painting itself. His works were most recently on view, at the Stadtgalerie Museumspavillon, Salzburg (2021) and the Museu Nacional de História Natural e da Ciência, Lisbon (2019/20).
